When patients require critical or life-saving care, they are often flown to the most appropriate hospital location by air ambulance to eliminate the extra time ground transport would require. While this helps patients receive the specialty care they need as quickly as possible, it can also leave them with costly medical bills – adding up to tens of thousands of dollars in some cases. That’s largely a result of the current lack of pricing regulation with air ambulance services. SPBA continues to advocate for change that will result in more reasonable rates for these services.
